Was talking to a lad at work who is a big real ale fan and he was telling me of special winter and Christmas guest beers being on at his local.
Do you brew anything different depending on the time of year or would this just be a name to suit the occasion.

I don't make beer as Mrs Tea is not a fan and i don't have space to make both wine and beer at the same time, Christmas pudding beer is something that has been made by several members.

Here is what many members have made for this Christmas - http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=67299&highlight=christmas

Most people of a certain age can remember their dads buying beer kits from Boots the chemist and turning out awful tasting beer, things have moved on massively and you can now get beer brewing kits that rival the beer you buy in pubs at a fraction of the price, you can also take it further and make your own beer from ingredients rather than kits and it doesn't cost a lot to do either.

A shameless plug for our Home Brew Forum - http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/index.php

I like to drink ale myself but I'm not really a fan of those Christmas ales - can be a bit too rich and heavy.

Plus if I wanted the taste of chocolate or toffee, I'd buy a Mars bar....

Is that a bottle of beer for each day of December? Looks a great idea  :)

Also is each ale brewed by members on your Home Brew forum?

Yes a different bottle every day. (24 days)

The down side is its 75 (ish) delivered but if you like your beer its 3 a day so not so bad, the guy in our forum has not yet found one he doesn't like.

75 not the end of the world, particularly if they are for beers you cannot really find in the local supermarkets.

If only somebody would bring out an advent calendar that contains a bottle of beer each day as well as a different curry and rice, then they'd be onto a winner :)

If anyone here has ever thought about giving home brew a try these are some of the beer kits that you can buy that have been reviewed by members -

The Coopers kits are very popular.

75 sounds a lot in one go but if you think over so many days it's not bad
Though wouldn't be opening it in the morning like chocolate advent calendar
