Good Business for Both.

With news of Manchester City going for Kolo Toure, I can't help but believe that this is actually very good business for both teams.

Its no secret that he was ready to leave Arsenal and Arsene Wenger is a shrewd enough manager to survive losing one of his top defenders.

City need defenders desperately. Hughes has made no secret of that with his much-publicized move for John Terry. Undaunted, after Terry pledged his future to Chelsea, Hughes is eyeing Toure.

Arsenal need cash to re-invest in the club after a sub-par season last year which saw their top 4 standing saved by Wenger getting Arshavin, to go along with a Brazilian. Smooth I know.

City desperately need defense and Toure would fit in at City perfectly. Having Emmanuel Adebayor helps immensely will help as they are exceptionally close friends as well.

40,000,000 GBP that Arsenal will have made by the time this deal is concluded will help them to re-tool the line up and could help them build into a stronger club. However, the question remains - Will Wenger spend the money? Or, will he try to develop a young player from within.

My prediction is that this deal will be sealed on Wednesday or late Tuesday. So Bluewatch, send another welcoming committee to Eastlands to show that Kolo what kind of support he is in for.

Special Times Ahead

Quite a few sites have picked up on comments made by Jose Mourinho over the weekend:  the Special One believes City have some strike force now and could win the title!

Personally, I think we are still a way, way off that feat just yet.  We need to attend to the matter of the defence and strengthen there before we can consider ourselves as having any kind of shout to push towards the top 4.

What has intrigued me really, is the timing of those comments.  At a point when Jose has fallen out with the Inter board over the deal sending Zlatan Verylongsurname to Barca, and prior to this a spat where he has kept his distance from the Italian press, Mourinho's comments could be construed as jockeying for position as front runner to take over at City in the event of any slip ups by Mark Hughes.

So how on Earth do you come to that conclusion Peter, I hear you cry?

Mourinho has been criticised in the past for only going to teams where the job is already at least half done for him - look at Chelsea when he took over there, look at Inter.  Basically with both of those sides not a lot of tweaking was needed to be done in order to push them on to greater things than they were already achieving.

That said, he was also not afraid to spend money and lots of it - particularly at Chelsea.  At Inter, whilst not the prodigious amounts he spent at Chelsea, he has been given funds for transfers and not been afraid to spend them

Already this should be sounding to you like the situation City are starting to get to - loads of money, job already well under way and going in the right direction.

Don't bet on Matalan not stocking a new line of overcoats come Christmas if Hughes isn't delivering!

Knockers!!

Sorry lads, this article is probably not what you thought it was and certainly comes without pictures of scantily clad Page 3 types – note to self: must get out more!  No, this latest article is all about the every increasing queue to have a pop at City and our new found spending power.

First we have our old favourite Sour Alf, taking a sideswipe regarding silly money transfer fees.  One can only imagine the boardroom discussions at the swamp during the Tranaldo transfer to Real Madrid as Ni’id continue to wage their war to make football a benevolent industry:

Glazer:              Gee Alex, they’ve bid £80 million for the ladyboy show-pony?

Sour Alf:            Malcolm, we cannae tek that much fae hum.  Nae, gae back tae um and tell um they can have hum for £40 and a bottle o’ Buckfast.

David Gill tried his hand with an extraordinary pontification about the money they have to spend at the swamp, medium term and long term plans and the types of players they wish to purchase.  Step up Michael Owen, clearly fitting the bill of the young, mid twenties type of player Ni’id are targeting!  Definitely one for the medium to long term there, eh, David?

Next up - Rio Contraband declaring he won’t be joining the City revolution.  Can anyone correct me on this one, but have we actually made a bid for him?  Now, that’s an interesting insight into the mind of the England international – turning down an invite to a party you haven’t been invited to!

Note to Rio: put the pipe down and step away from the bong.

Finally (I’m not even going to bother to mention the assorted flotsam and jetsam of the journalist fraternity slating us) we have Gael Clichy of the Gooners.  Gael claims if all you care about is money, then you will end up signing for Manchester City.  On the strength of that, I’m sure Gael is playing for Arsenal on a voluntary basis out of a sense of community for the hard-ups of Finsbury Park.  Sounds to me someone is upset City have not contacted his agent!

Note to Gael: Arsenal have won as many trophies as City have over the last 4 years; a clear definition of success in anyone’s book.

I suppose we should take all this as complimentary, the fact so many are lining up to have their say on what they ‘think’ is happening at City.  If you take a good, long deep breath through the nose when reading the articles knocking us, you will catch a strange odour.

That my friends, is the smell of fear.

We’re on the rise; they know it and to quote Corporal Jones from Dad’s Army “they don’t like it up ‘em.”

Fans' Respect Plea to FA

To All Football Fans,

The road to Wembley, the chance to walk down Wembley way, to look up at the archway, to sing with your family, friends and fellow fans to support your team in a final, that's the pinnacle of every football fan's dreams. Unfortunately that is a dream that doesn't become reallity for many fans due to poor allocations.

The FA have called for respect in football. Respect referees, respect competitions by not fielding weakened teams, they've used the tag line 'Lose Respect, Lose the Game'.

After recently seeing at first hand in the FA Cup Final what happens to fans season after season in domestic Wembley games, we believe the respect in the game should be extended to the fans.

Each season upto 16 of the 92 league clubs will play a major game at Wembley, whether in the FA Cup, Carling Cup, play offs or community shield, and most of these clubs and their fans will have some form of problems with the FA over the poor allocations as many match going fans unfortunately miss out on being able to watch their team in what is most likely to be their biggest game of the season at our national stadium.

We understand the financial problems with the FA, and we understand the need for Club Wembley, but what is unexplainable is upto 23000 tickets given out to people who have little interest in the game itself and inevitably via an extortionate price tag, the tickets go back into the hands of the fans of the clubs playing. If most of these tickets will be taken up by fans anyway via touts, then surely the FA should cut out this extortionate middleman and supply the tickets directly.

The Respect Campaign is calling for a rethink from the FA about a fairer allocation, a look into who deserves to be counted as the football family, a greater protection of fans from touts, and a general show of more respect to the life blood of English football, the fans.

If you want to support the Respect Campaign, please sign the online petition part of our campaign (link below) or visit http://www.respectcampaign.com/

The Future is Bright - The Future is BLUE.

As the season draws ever closer, Manchester City manager Mark Hughes makes waves in the transfer market as he aims to strengthen his already strong Manchester city squad. Hughes is forever springing some eye-opening signings as Manchester city prepare to make there assault on the top four in the premiership.

With Carlos Tevez signed from under the noses of there close City rivals and also big spending Chelsea.  Emmanuel Adebayor was signed from Arsenal and Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.  Mark Hughes’ Manchester City are starting to look like the real deal .

Mark Hughes is also in hot pursuit for Joleon Lescott and John Terry, Terry of whom would be the biggest surprise of the entire transfer season. He makes no secret of what his intentions are as he takes this massive club on there rollercoaster ride to break in to the top four.  The next goal for Hughes is to win the premiership title and break the cycle of the 33 years of under-achieving by this sleeping giant.

Something that City supprters crave and deserve.

Under the ownership of the Abu Dhabi based owners fronted by Sheikh Khaldoon Mansour the sky is certainly the limit as Mark Hughes’ transfer war chest seems to be a bottomless pit. I'm sure mark Hughes is more than prepared for some of the selection headaches he is to face as the season approaches.

A long awaited trophy could soon be a thought of the past as Manchester City fans wait eagerly for the start of the season to see this array of stars pull on there treasured and beloved blue shirt.
